ABOUT THE ARTIST
I'm an artist, Ugandan by heritage, born and raised in Ethiopia and now based in Sheffield, UK. Using mixed media I create portraits to represent a nature I can relate to. Moving around alot through out my lifetime I have found a sense of home by creating art that explored the roots of who I am - a Black Woman. With each drawing I journey further into the history, the beauty and the power of the Black Woman. Through this journey I discovered that art and drawing black women helped me to understand myself and make sense of my experiences. I hope the pictures I create can do the same for others. In light of this Art by PattyB is dedicating a percentage of proceeds to fund black women's access to psychological therapy and counselling through the Art for Therapy sponsorship.
